Got my Nikon D80 Today

Just got my Nikon D80 DSLR from KEH today! I have to leave for work about 2:30PM on Wednesdays, so I was sweating the FEDEX delivery - he came about 1:30PM, so I at least got to receive it, and got a chance to look it over and charge the battery. It cost me about $650US in "Like New" (with everything, never used condition). KEH and B&H are about the only camera stores I would trust for this kind of thing. Too many scans out there today, especially for used equipment.

I fugured it was about time to get a new DSLR body. The D70 has given me great service and is still a very viable camera, but it's to the point where you can get a lot of nice features for not too much money now. Yeah, I would have liked a D300 body like everyone else, buy I didn't want to spend $1800 for that! ^^ All of my lenes and accessories work with it of course, except the D80 uses SD cards, not CF like the D70.

Wow I don't know much about cameras but that's a gigantic lens you have there! It must capture amazing photos I imagine! So happy you were there to receive it!

I out this off as long as I could. No one thing. Just all the advances since D70 came out. D70 still great camera. I'll see if it can find a comparison of the two feature-wise.

Hi Jane, Isn't it loverly? :P The D80 is real light. The lens is heavy. That is a pro-level zoom telephoto with a lot of light gathering power f2.8, so you can use a higher shutter speed to stop action. The lens also has a tripod collar on it for a tripod, or monopod to help steady it. It should be great for action photography. :) 70-200mm on Nikon is equivalent to 105-300mm focal length. Nice range!

I've taken a few pix so far. Nothing great. People make great pictures, not equipment, but I have fewer excuses now! :P

I'm not a big fan of cameras but the lens is really huggeeeee, very pro look! and it has its own tripod? cool. Show us pictures when you take some.

Woah you got some good stuff and that big lens is just amazing. I was thinking of getting D80 around the Christmas time but it was just too expensive. Have fun with it.

He's so lucky!!! I hear they teach a class beforehand and then you get to ride on the track...I can't even imagine how amazing that would be!! Fontana is a large 2 mile track too!

I love the Netflix widget! :) It's here right now. Watching tonight. :) I have on tape, but want to see DVD. And impress MB! ^^

I told my roomie that I have a friend that is REALLY into NASCAR and he better take a lot of pictures and mini-movies while he's there. My Panasonic digicam even does wide screen! Hope he can fit in the cockpit! :O

And score some NASCAR swag too, of course! Anything you want?? ;)

The telephoto is pro quality. Should be great for action photography to stop motion. Can hardly wait to play! :)

The price has come down since then. I got it "Like New" from keh.com for $665.

You have a good DSLR as I recall. Capture those baby moments! :)

I wanna' see too! :P And mini-movies!! I think he is going with his brother, so that should be possible. Wouldn't that be an experience?! :O These are the real deal racers. I'll still have him get some swag, in case you open another wing on The H!P/NASCAR Shrine. :)
